The Mullumbimby Ex-Services Club is excited to announce the launch of its new Sunday Open Mic Jam Sessions starting this Sunday and continuing every Sunday from 3pm to 6pm.
Featuring local favourites The Swamp Cats band, the weekly sessions are led by John Fog (vocals and guitar) and feature Chris Strangecat (vocals and guitar), Geoff Jones (bass) and Marcelo Bonin (drums).
Together, the band brings a wealth of musical experience and a strong local following, providing a welcoming stage for local musicians, singers and performers while offering audiences an afternoon of quality live entertainment.
After many years of hosting popular Sunday sessions in Mullumbimby, John Fog and The Swamp Cats have found a new home at the Mullumbimby Ex-Services Club, and are delighted to continue this much-loved local tradition for the community to enjoy each week.
The Sunday Open Mic Jam Session is designed to celebrate the incredible musical talent that exists throughout the Byron Shire. Musicians of all abilities are encouraged to bring their instruments, join the band on stage and become part of the experience. Whether you’re an experienced performer, an aspiring musician or simply someone who enjoys great live music, these sessions promise a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
General Manager Andrew Spice said the Mullumbimby Ex-Services Club was proud to provide a new venue for a longstanding community favourite.
‘Live music has always played an important role in bringing people together, and we’re excited to see these Sunday sessions continue at the club,’ said Mr Spice. ‘It’s a fantastic opportunity for local musicians to showcase their talent and for the community to come together for an enjoyable Sunday afternoon.’
The launch of the new Sunday sessions coincides with several positive changes at Mullumbimby Ex-Services Club designed to make the venue more accessible and welcoming. Recent amendments to registered club regulations now allow residents living within a five kilometre radius of the club to enter without needing to be members, or signed in as guests.
The club has also modernised its dress regulations, with standards now focused on neat and tidy attire while allowing hats, headwear, singlets and tank tops. These practical changes help create a more relaxed and inclusive environment for locals and visitors alike.
While visitors can sign themselves in with suitable identification, locals are encouraged to join the club. Membership remains exceptional value at just $6 per year, providing discounts on food and drinks, exclusive promotions, members-only happy hours and access to the club’s rewards program.
