The section of the proposed ‘rail trail’ between old Mitre 10 and the Roadhouse Cafe, is one of the most incredible areas yet to be shown off to locals and visitors alike, running through Cumbebin Swamp’s picturesque wetlands.
This 1.3 km stretch is a hidden gem, and has enormous tourism attraction potential, and will be directly accessible just south of Byron’s CBD.
With a few small picnic and meditation bays along this heartwarming stretch of corridor, all cyclists and walkers will celebrate this area, much like for example, Melbourne celebrates its Botanic Gardens, but in our own natural way.
Completing the entire rail trail is an obvious goal, but this beating heart really needs to be emphasised in our funding submissions.
Eventually, folk travelling the other way, from Lismore and Bangalow will roll down into Byron, through this delightful avenue entrance.
