As someone who lives on Ewingsdale Road, spends half my driving time on that road and when not driving crosses that road as a pedestrian or cyclist all the time, I can’t think of a more absurd idea than traffic lights.
Traffic lights would only hamper the traffic flow into Byron. As for pedestrians and cyclists, all that is required is completing the footpath on the south side of the road all the way to Ewingsdale, without the path constantly swapping sides of the road.
A few zebra crossings and Bob’s your uncle! A zebra crossing near the Discovery Holiday Park, near Bunnings and the hospital will assist the few pedestrians in these areas.
I imagine whoever is proposing expensive traffic lights on Ewingsdale Road is some bureaucrat who’s basing an opinion on theory rather than practice.
Please, no traffic lights in Byron!
