Grab your steins and throw on your lederhosen, Stone & Wood is doing Oktoberfest properly this year.
The brewery’s head brewer Caolan Vaughan just got back from Germany with a serious appetite for the real thing and a notebook full of ideas. So for one weekend only, Stone & Wood is pouring six German-style beers brewed just for the occasion: a crisp Pilsner, a Kölsch, a Hefeweizen, a smoky Rauchbier, a Festbier and a rich Dunkel. Something for everyone, whether you’re new to German beer or you know your Helles from your Hefe.
Stone & Wood’s kitchen is getting in on it too, with Bavarian-inspired specials to go with the beer (as it should be), and Byron Bay Pretzels will be on hand with the real deal – soft, salty, perfect for mopping up a Dunkel.
Add in live music all weekend from the Rhinelanders and you’ve got a pretty good excuse to spend a couple of days at your favourite local brewery.
No need to dress up (though they won’t stop you if you’ve got lederhosen). Just come thirsty.
