The Mullumbimby Chamber of Commerce and Community (MCCC) are calling on local businesses and the community to join them in cleaning up the main street of town on Sunday, 25 October from 8am to 10am.

Many of the poles in the town that have been painted by local school students have become covered in posters and the MCCC will be cleaning up the poles so students can again paint them for the town.

‘We are going to set up four places to put posters throughout the town so that people don’t need to cover the artwork our local students have created,’ said Jenelle.

The new poster boards will be on the side of the IGA building, the side of Baker & Daughters where mural artist Daniel Hend will add the poster boards into his murals (see page 14 for Daniel’s upcoming exhibition), at the end of the path at Santos, and the newsagency will dedicate one window for posters.

‘We have been having issues with posters ending up in drains and blocking them when we have heavy rain and flooding the streets,’ explained Jenelle.

‘If posters are put in places other than the designated billboards, they will be removed.

‘It has also come to our attention that there are areas, other than the main street, that also have a lot of rubbish, so if we get enough people we will try and do more so please come and lend a hand.’

For more information or to put up a poster in the Newsagency window drop in and see Jenelle at the Mullumbimby Newsagent.
