November is when turtles start nesting on Byron Shire beaches, and to make things a little easier for them TurtleWatch are having a community clean-up day at Brunswick Heads on Saturday, 3 October from 10am to 12pm.
‘This will be our second year holding the clean-up at Brunswick Heads and it is a great opportunity to bring the community together to remove marine debris from the coastline ahead of the upcoming marine turtle nesting season,’ TurtleWatch’s Merryn Dunleavy told The Echo.

‘There will also be some fantastic prizes on the day, kindly donated by Out of the Blue Adventures, including a whale-watching voucher and a Julian Rocks snorkelling voucher.’

So get your hat and sunscreen and head to the TurtleWatch stall at Banner Park in Brunswick Heads to help to make sure these tiny turtles have a better chance of making it back into the sea.
