An investigation is underway after a body was found in a stockyard near Murwillumbah yesterday.

About 11.20am (Monday 5 October 2026), police were called to a property on Kyogle Road at Terragon, about 20km south-west of Murwillumbah, after a body was seen partially submerged in a stock dip by trail bike riders.

A crime scene was established by officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District and inquiries into the incident commenced.

The scene has since been forensically examined, and the body – believed to be that of a woman – has been recovered.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted in coming days to determine identity and cause of death.

As inquiries continue, anyone with information is urged to contact Tweed Heads Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
