Owned by Ros and Steve Keen of Ocean Shores, and maintained by their mate Shane, the 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Indy pace car was offered to local racing driver and 2026 Bathurst 1000 entrant Nathan Herne for the parade, and of course he said ‘yes!’

The car was originally part of a limited-edition release of 600 pace cars that became so popular they made 6,500 of them. Ros Keen says she and Steve have owned the car for about ten years and it has made regualr appearances at the Northern Rivers Muscle Down Under Car Club which has over 100 members and has been operating since 2009.

Steve and Shane drove the Corvette, a left-hand drive, down to Bathurst last weekend and will spend the week enjoying the race festivities and the main event this weekend.
