Spaghetti Circus is truly a place of fun and engagement that has come from out of our community. From humble beginnings at Main Arm Upper School it has grown into a wonderful organisation that gives so much back to our youth and community.
This Thursday you can be part of keeping this vital local organisation running by donating to the AusArt Day, with matched funding covering the first $5,000 given to the Mullumbimby youth circus. That means a $25 donation becomes $50 and a $100 donation becomes $200, all going towards scholarships, youth performance development, and community outreach.
You can donate on 22 October from 8am to 8pm via www.spaghetticircus.com/donate or pop into the shed at Mullumbimby Showground and enjoy a range of performances, BBQ and more.
‘Matched giving days don’t come around often, so this is a real chance for our community to make their generosity go twice as far,’ said Chair Joel Salom.
Help people get involved
‘Every dollar helps a young person who might not otherwise be able to train with us.’
‘Spaghetti Circus has always been more than a circus school, it’s a place where young people belong and learn trust, resilience, and teamwork,’ said Circus Director Petrina Hutchinson.
‘AusArt Day is a chance to pass that on to the next generation – it is a national day of giving that brings communities together to support the artists and arts organisations that enrich our lives.’
To mark the day, the circus will host its first telethon from 8am to 8pm at its sheds at Mullumbimby Showground, with performances, a community BBQ and students, staff and alumni calling supporters to say thank you.
For more than three decades, Spaghetti Circus has trained young people – across the Byron Shire and beyond – in circus; from aerials and acrobatics to tumbling and performance. It is a registered charity; all donations are tax-deductible.

For four decades The Echo has printed the stories some people loved, some people hated, and some pretended not to read. If you want us to keep telling the truth, the real truth, not the sugar-coated version. We’ll need your support to keep the presses rolling.
