Why in 2026 are buses, including school buses, not wheelchair-accessible?

Why has Byron Council banned local buses, that bring local people to town to shop in local businesses, from stopping in the main streets of Mullumbimby and Byron Bay?

Why is it that for six years the trip planner has failed to accurately list the one bus servicing Byron hinterland communities? Currently the bus does not appear at all.

At other times it has appeared at times it does not run. The route number shown in some timetables is not shown on the bus. If this ‘planner’ was for airlines or hotels, there would justifiably be an uproar. So why have these issues gone unresolved for six years despite being repeatedly shown to exist to high level Council and NSW government representatives?

Could the answer to these questions be that Council and state government simply don’t care about the significant proportion of ratepayers who need these services for work, education, medical services, and simple day-to-day movement?

Action and explanation from councillors and candidates for the NSW election encouraged.
