Walkers will be able to access and enjoy Lennox Heads unique coastline once the Coastal Recreational Walk is completed.

Taking a stroll along the coast is not only good for your health but your mind and spirit as well. Lennox residents can now enjoy more of its delightful coastline. The upgrade to the three kilometre section of the Coastal Recreational Walk from Sharpes Beach to Pat Morton will soon be underway with works expected to commence within weeks.

‘Once complete, it will allow walkers to access and enjoy our unique coastline and provide additional infrastructure to support our local tourism industry,’ said Ballina Mayor David Wright.

The focus of this walkway is to preserve the natural and organic landscape while providing the community with a safe and more accessible walking track. Once complete, the walkway will retain sections of existing grass, plus include new sections of gravel footpath and boardwalk.

Works are expected to commence in early June and be completed by the end of the year. Access to the existing track will be reduced over the coming months says Ballina Shire Council.

Linking Lennox to Ballina

The Coastal Shared Path, along The Coast Road from Skennars Head roundabout to the iconic Pat Morton Lookout at Lennox Head that was commenced last year will ultimately link Lennox to Ballina. This will be a path beside the road that will be an environmentally sustainable path for cyclists, skateboarders and walkers to utilise both locally and to access Ballina. This path is currently under construction and is aiming to be completed towards end of year.

‘The projects will deliver two iconic pathways, one to enjoy the diverse range of coastline environments, and the other a pedestrian and cycling path alongside our local roads, making the commute between Ballina and Lennox Head safer and easier,’ Mayor Wright added.
