Rainbow Power Company yesterday announced the appointment of Solar Hall of Fame inductee Nigel Morris as Chair of the Board. The move marks a homecoming to the company where Mr Morris’s pioneering solar career began 34 years ago.
RPC says Nigel Morris returns as part of a strategic leadership renewal, following the recent appointment of Matthew Wittemeier as Chief Executive Officer, bringing a combination of global experience and local commitment to Australia’s original solar company.
‘Rainbow Power Company gave me my start in solar, and it’s genuinely exciting to return at such a pivotal time,’ said Mr Morris.
‘This company has been the heartbeat of renewable energy in the Northern Rivers for nearly four decades. My focus is simple: to help ensure Rainbow Power Company continues leading Australia’s solar revolution while staying true to its community roots.’
New chapter
RPC says Mr Morris’s appointment signals a new chapter for the 37-year-old company, which has recently refocused on its core mission of accessible, community-centred renewable energy.
His career includes senior roles with BP Solar, CATCH Power/Solar Analytics, and Roof Juice/Sungevity, as well as founding Solar Business Services, Australia’s leading solar consultancy. He also hosts the top-ranking Just Another Solar Podcast.
‘Nigel’s return brings both gravitas and genuine passion to our board,’ said CEO Matthew Wittemeier.
‘His vision aligns with our renewed focus on being the trusted local partner for renewable energy. We’re rebuilding trust through expertise, accessibility, and authentic community connection.’
The leadership transition also sees Carly Chapman moving from Board Chair to Company Secretary, continuing to apply her financial expertise to strengthen governance and strategic planning.
Ken Jones, who has served with distinction as Company Secretary since 2019, will remain on the board as a Director.
