A 26-year-old man is due to appear in court next month, accused of driving dangerously at Tweed Heads under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

He allegedly crashed the blue SUV he was driving around 3pm Sunday, prompting reports to police.

Officers said they stopped the vehicle on Wharf Street, Tweed Heads, a short time later.

The alleged driver was subjected to a roadside breath test, which police said returned a positive result.

A secondary breath analysis at Tweed Heads Police Station returned an alleged reading of 0.181.

Officers then subjected the man to an oral fluid test, which they said returned a positive reading to cannabis and cocaine.

He faces several related charges, including for his alleged failure to give his particulars to another driver.

Police said they would allege in court he failed to exchange details after hitting another vehicle twice and driving off in a dangerous manner.

He’s due to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court on Monday 1 June.
