Time to plant Christmas salads!

It’s time to plant the Christmas salads. Plant lettuce, cucumber, capsicum, chile, eggplant, tomatoes and zucchini now and you will be harvesting during the festive season. You’ll need mint, rocket, basil, dill, parsley, chives, shallots, and coriander too. If you grow your own, you can pick just what you need, when you want it. What could be better?

But don’t be selfish about all this fresh produce – you can share the love! Potted herb gardens make great gifts. Plant them up now and they will be at their peak at Christmas. A potted chile plant looks spectacular and very festive covered in those gorgeous, brightly coloured fruit. Choose whatever container takes your fancy, but make sure you use top-quality potting mix. Certified organic premium potting mix is ideal for growing food as it contains no chemicals.
