Honey
‘Honey is a natural food manufactured by honeybees from the nectar and pollen of flowers in an atmosphere of beauty and love known to no other workers in the world’. Dorothy Perlman, The Magic Of Honey.
For centuries honey has been used to relieve sore throats and dry cough. In Chinese medicine it harmonises the liver, neutralises toxins and relieves pain. It can help break the cycle of alcoholism and relieve hangovers. Australian Jellybush and NZ Manuka honey have been proven to substantially aid wound recovery and improve digestion and to have a positive effect on many skin conditions.
As honey is sweeter than sugar and assimilated directly into the bloodstream, small amounts only are advised. Honey is best raw, unprocessed and unheated.
