Mandy Nolan’s Soapbox: The End of an Era

As the Entertainment Editor I have interviewed some very interesting people. Like the multi-orgasmic man; a Dutch orgasm coach living in a yurt, and Tim (Pricasso) who paints with his penis. I have also interviewed musicians. Probably not quite as interesting as the aforementioned group, but whose stories and chats have formed a wonderful part of my week over the last two decades. Kevin Hogan from The Nationals

The Nationals’ Kevin Hogan defeated Labor’s Janelle Saffin in the 2013 election. The seat of Page includes Lismore, Grafton, Ballina and Casino – the electorate is one of the nation’s poorest according to the 2011 Census profile. Ballina is the only major coastal centre in this predominantly rural electorate.

Since being elected he has stated that he would cross the floor if necessary to uphold his stand to keep the Northern Rivers CSG free.

Justine Elliot  – re-elected in 2013

Coverage including candidate profiles

The seat of Richmond was retained on a reduced majority by sitting member Justine Elliot in 2013.  She has held the seat since 2004. The seat includes the coastal strip from Tweed Heads to south of Byron Bay, and inland to Nimbin and Murwillumbah. The seat contains one of the nation’s highest proportions of caravan park dwellers together with less well off retirees in Tweed, the nation’s strongest polling booths for the Greens in the hills around Mullumbimby, as well as a sea change population around Byron.
