NSW Ambulance is urging people to monitor conditions with the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) forecasting severe-intensity heatwave conditions for the Upper Western district, Mid North Coast, Northern Rivers and Northern Tablelands from today, 24 November, 2025.

Two new flood gauges have been installed at Rocky Creek Dam and on Ballina Street Bridge, Lismore – that saw boats motoring along the bridge's roadway during the 2022 flood – to enhance real-time flood data collection and emergency response across the region.

Flood warnings were still in place for the Tweed, Richmond, Clarence, Orara, Bellinger, Macleay, Hastings, Manning, Upper Hunter, Cooks, Gwydir, Namoi, Paroo, Warrego and Culgoa catchments as of Monday morning.

Northern Rivers communities and beyond were in various stages of emergency recovery and alert Monday morning as impacts of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, since downgraded to a tropical East Low, continued.

The latest information from the Bureau of Meteorology shows that Tropical Cyclone Alfred is now at Category 2, and is expected to make landfall between the Sunshine Coast and Grafton, with the eye currently expected to cross the coast just south of Brisbane.

In its latest video update, the Bureau of Meteorology is telling people along the coast of Queensland to be alert but not alarmed as Tropical Cyclone Alfred heads closer to the coast and increases its intensity. Northern NSW might also be affected, depending on what happens over the next few days.
