A resident of Feros Care Residential Village Bangalow says that his time at the facility has become worse than it already was, since residents of Feros in Byron have been relocated there.

The final ten residents had been told by Feros Care that they needed to be out of the Feros Village Byron Bay by yesterday, 18 July. Last night Feros residents, family members, and the community came together to hold a ‘vigil’.

Elderly Feros Village residents in Byron Bay and their families received notice yesterday (Wednesday, 10 May), from Feros Care CEO Karen Crouch, that the aged care facility would close on 23 June, 2023.

Calls by residents and their families to remove Feros Care as the Crown Land Manager for Feros Village Byron Bay have triggered an investigation by Crown Lands, who own the site on behalf of the people of NSW.

The death of recent Feros Byron Bay resident, Jason Smith, has put fire in the belly of a local advocacy group fighting the facility’s closure. 

Jason used to come to Byron Bay in the mid ‘60s, stay in caravan parks in town and surf The Pass. He moved up north permanently in 1971.
