With the new year came the news that the Koori Kitchen in Lismore would not be reopening and that the facility would be packed down – Council wants their parking spaces back.

The Koori Mail is celebrating the Indigenous ownership of additional offices in Lismore following the devastating flooding in February this year.

Local media outlet and responder to the February and March floods, the Koori Mail was honoured at the annual National NAIDOC Week Awards held on Narrm Country on Saturday evening.

Since 1991 the fortnightly published Koori Mail, written and owned by Indigenous Australians, has been essential reading for Indigenous and non-indigenous folk across the country, but next week for the first time in 30 years Australia’s the Koori Mail will be unable to publish.

Bundjalung/Dhungutti woman Naomi Moran has gone from washing the dishes and making the tea to being appointed the general manager of The Koori Mail.
