A Mullumbimby resident, who used FOI to seek the information that Resilience NSW relied upon to justify creating emergency housing on flood-prone land in Prince Street, was supplied with heavily redacted documents.

Questions remain unanswered and handballed while secrecy still surrounds Council’s negotiations with Resilience NSW over plans to create housing for 180 people affected by flooding in Brunswick Heads. 

Byron Shire Council Mayor Michael Lyon has defended Council’s handling of the ongoing Mullum pod accommodation debacle, telling The Echo that councillors requested, through a Council resolution, that Resilience NSW conduct consultation with neighbouring residents regarding the rail corridor works on Prince Street. 

It’s worth pausing to reflect on the mass frogacide that just happened on Prince Street, Mullum, which was led by unquestioning Byron Shire councillors and Resilience NSW.

Many residents are concerned about the high-speed construction of the Emergency Housing Development along the railway corridor in Prince Street, Mullumbimby. 

Mullumbimby residents are growing increasingly angry and are still waiting for answers over the construction of temporary pod accommodation works on Prince Street, next to the disused railway on flood-prone land.
