Last year was a big season for the Lennox Head Dolphins Junior Rugby League with three teams U10s, U12s and U14s, fighting hard as Grand Final runners up.
Rugby league, at whatever level, demands equal parts courage, resolve and quick thinking (its detractors will never understand that last component). The Mullumbimby Giants’ Under 18s displayed all three qualities in going down to the NRRRL minor premiers, the Murwillumbah Mustangs, by 20-12 in their elimination final at Stan Sercombe Oval last Sunday.
Byron Bay’s topsy turvy NRRRL season came to a shuddering halt at Grafton’s Frank McGuren Field on Saturday.After imposing prop Chris Coleman had his jaw broken in the very first tackle of their elimination semi-final, the Red Devils never quite got into their stride as the Ghosts’ hard-nosed, percentage football carried them home by 22-6.
