A contentious $300 million proposal on State Significant Farmland (SSF) next to the Tweed Hospital has been recommended for approval by The Northern Regional Planning Panel (NRPP). The Cudgen Connection decision came in late yesterday, after years of deliberations, opposition and political commitments to protect the SSF. It is located at 741 Cudgen Road.

Residents are holding firm against a proposal to develop State Significant Farmland (SSF) near the Tweed Valley Hospital at Cudgen, after the Northern Regional Planning Panel (NRPP) held a public meeting on Friday 19 June around the Planning Proposal for Cudgen Connection (PP-2023-2669-Cudgen Connection).

Despite the fact that the community and Tweed Shire Council have come out strongly against the development application (DA) called Cudgen Connection proposed on State Significant Farmland (SSF) on the Cudgen Plateau the proposed Gateway Determination has been listed.

The controversial new Tweed Valley Hospital opened to patients at 8am this morning.

The contentious Cudgen Connection development proposed on State Significant Farmland on the protected Cudgen Plateau next to the Tweed Valley Hospital site was in front of Tweed Shire Councillors at yesterday's planning meeting. 

Cudgen’s protected farmland under threat the question is will the Labor state government break the ‘iron clad’ promise give to the community that there would be no further development of the protected Cudgen Plateau?

The Tweed Shire Growth Management Housing Strategy Options Paper proposes a lot of significant changes across that shire, and many of the options are controversial.

NSW Labor's Planning and Agriculture ministers Paul Scully and Tara Moriarty have failed to confirm their commitment to State Significant Farmland (SSF) at Cudgen Plateau today. 

Concerns have been raised over this afternoon's Tweed Shire Council meeting where two Gateway Determination rejections relating to the Kingscliff Locality Plan and the development of caravan parks in rural locations.

The announcement of the new ambulance station for Kingscliff was welcomed by the community, in particular, that the state government kept its promise and protected the Cudgen Plateau’s State Significant Farmland from further development.
