In The Arts Feature December 2024

Wategos. 600mmx750mm

Artist in focus: David Lane

David Lane is well known to many local art enthusiasts and is best known for his vibrant and colourful seascapes, however his ability to capture colour and light in his subjects is also reflected in his delightful landscapes and still lifes.

David uses multi-layered acrylic paint to create highly textured, three-dimensional works on canvas and paper. He is inspired by the colour, wildness, and the creativity of nature.

Living in northern New South Wales, David is no stranger to the vibrancy of our local landscape and creates works that he hopes will transport others to this magical place.

David’s work has been described as timeless and tasteful. Every landscape in his collection is one he has sat in front of, marvelled at, and enjoyed. He seeks to give visitors to his studio gallery a taste of this beauty through his colours, lines, and shapes.

Each year in December David holds an exhibition of his new work and a studio sale at his home in Tintenbar. David’s 2024 painting exhibition and studio sale opened last weekend and continues from Thursday, 5 December until Sunday, 8 December, 11am to 5pm (EDT).

For more information and directions visit David’s website www.davidlane.com.au or contact the gallery on 0418 794 860.

Callista by Rosie Tainsh

Porter Street Pop Up Gallery

This exhibition, opening on 29 November, showcases recent works by three close friends, Marianne Høegh-Guldberg, Jo Langley and Rosie Tainsh.

Personal journeys of early shared art school experiences, subsequent divergent life pathways and relatively recent resumption of their art practice have come together for this collaboration.

Faber by Jo Langley

Marianne Høegh-Guldberg’s Danish heritage is reflected in her delicate mixed media pieces. She lives and works in Parkes, Wiradjuri country.

Tombola by Marianne Hoeg Guldberg

Jo Langley’s gestural acrylics directly and indirectly reflect memory, landscape and biology. She lives and works in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, Gundungurra and Darug country.

Rosie Tainsh’s ink abstracts are informed by her recent relocation to Byron Bay, Bundjalung country. Light changes, fleeting movements of shadow, and the ebb and flow of tides are significant influences.

Open Wed, Thurs, Fri
10am to 4pm / Sat 10am to 2pm
