I would like to acknowledge the letter printed in The Echo dated 3 June from Gary Opit and Carmel Daoud, and thank them for their excellent suggestion of returning the Mullum Hospital site to the Bundjalung people. As noted by Keith Richards way back when, talk is cheap – it’s actions that speak louder than words and it would be a wonderful show of respect and gratitude for all we enjoy here post colonisation. May it be so.

For four decades The Echo has printed the stories some people loved, some people hated, and some pretended not to read. If you want us to keep telling the truth, the real truth, not the sugar-coated version. We’ll need your support to keep the presses rolling.
