Appeal to locate missing woman

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a woman missing from the Kempsey area.

An intoxicated woman copped a $550 fine early Sunday after refusing to leave the area of a nightclub in Byron Bay after being refused entry.

Byron Bay Police were patrolling the Byron Bay CBD about 12.15am on Sunday when they came across a 27 year old Ballina woman arguing with security at a Jonson Street nightclub.

Security staff called for police assistance as they had refused her entry due to her level of intoxication, however the women was still trying to get in.

Police spoke with the intoxicated woman, who continued to argue and refused to leave the area. After numerous directions to leave, the woman was eventually arrested and taken back to Byron Bay Police Station.

At the station, the woman received an infringement notice for $550 for remaining in the vicinity of a licensed premises after being excluded.

Tweed/Byron Police reminded people that if you are excessively affected by alcohol, you will not be permitted into a licensed premises. Legal action will be taken for those committing such offences in and near licensed premises.

Meanwhile, about 12.45pm on Saturday 18 June, Kingscliff Police were patrolling the Fingal Head area and had cause to speak with an 18 year old local man. During their time with the man, police located what is alleged to be a small amount of the drug ‘ice’, and other drug paraphernalia.

The man admitted being a user of the drug.

The man was issued a court attendance notice to attend Tweed Heads Local Court on the 1 August 2016 for possessing a prohibited drug. It is possible the man may receive court ordered drug addiction treatment as a result of this matter.

The drug ‘ice’ or methyl-amphetamine is not only illegal to possess, it results in horrendous health problems to those people that use it.
