With the local election looming, Mayor Jenny Dowell can look forward to some R&R after eight years at Lismore Council’s helm.
One of Jenny’s last official functions was to launch local film production company Cloudcatcher Media’s latest film Secrets & Sawdust, the story of master wood worker Geoff Hannah’s workshop in the months before unveiling his new piece, the Chinoiserie at the Lismore Gallery, and the progress of his students’ work as they all race toward the exhibition deadline.
The film was launched at the Lismore Council Chambers and the much-loved Luke Vassella surprised Jenny with the debut of a specially written tribute song to the outgoing “Lady” Mayor.
The lyrics give thanks to Jenny Dowell for her crucial role in defending the Northern Rivers from invasive gasfields.
The exhibition In Glue and Dust We Trust can be seen at the gallery until September 24.
Secrets & Sawdust – a master and his students prepare, is screening daily at the gallery.
