The inaugural Rainbow League of ultimate frisbee involving four teams was scheduled to get underway for the first time this week.
The four-team competition includes a team of younger players based in and around The Channon as well as three teams created from the players who have been part of the Byron Ultimate Disc (BUD) regular Monday night playing group.
The Rainbow League will follow a round robin format of two games every Monday night for four weeks, where each team plays the others twice.
The competition will culminate with a final’s night and presentation ceremony planned for April 3.
The competition is all about promoting the sport and maintaining enthusiasm, as well as getting more people involved on a more regular basis, BUD spokesman Paul Glennie said.
As always new or interested players are encouraged to attend.
‘All are welcome,’ he said.
The action starts at 6.20pm on Monday nights at the Byron Bay Recreation grounds.
