Harley makes a diving save in front of goal.

Mullumbimby High School student Harley Crossley has been selected in the Queensland U/13 boys hockey team to play in the national championships.

Harley’s weekend club, the Burringbar Waratahs, is part of Hockey Queensland, giving him the opportunity to represent both states. Harley is one of a lineage of great goalies produced by the Waratahs club, mum Trish Crossley said.

‘He is looking forward to seeing his NSW teammates in Hobart and testing himself against the best in Australia,’ she said.

Last year Harley made the NSW PSSA team, competing in the Pacific School Games held in Adelaide. Young athletes from primary schools and high schools around Australia and the Pacific rim and beyond converged on Adelaide to hold a mini Olympics involving 12 different sports.

This year the hockey championships will be held in Hobart during the October school holidays.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
