If you walk into the cinema thinking ‘I’m not expecting much from this film, I just want to be entertained and have a laugh’ then this film doesn’t disappoint. As most people expected, there is no real depth to the story or the characters in the film; however, the characters are forever in the middle of some elaborate and ridiculous action sequence – so it will keep you watching.
The sequels in the Jumanji franchise don’t have the same feel about them as the original, mostly owing to the absence of Robin Williams, who made the first film (1995) truly special. Now starring big names like Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan, this sequel is loaded with extensive CGI, and very obvious humour.
For a family trip to the cinema or for a bit of light-hearted action and comedy, Jumanji: The Next Level will leave you feeling totally satisfied. For those looking for complex characters and a gripping plot, you might want to skip this one.
