A man was airlifted from Stokers Siding to Gold Coast University Hospital on Monday, December 18 following a car accident.
Around 1pm, Monday 18 December, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance to a motor vehicle accident on the Tweed Valley Way at Stokers Siding, south of Murwillumbah.
A man in his 50s was treated by paramedics and the helicopter’s critical care medical team for multiple injuries before being airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital.
Police are reminding drivers that there will be more vehicles on the road over the Festive Season and to drive with care.
‘Traditionally, we see more people on the roads during the festive season, and this year will be no different. All road users need to remember to be patient and allow extra travel time,’ said a police spokesperson.
The state-wide Christmas and New Year road safety operation will start at midnight (12.01am on Friday 22 December 2023) and concludes 11.59pm on Monday 1 January 2024.
Double-demerit points are in force throughout the period for speeding, seatbelt, mobile phone and motorcycle helmet offences.
NSW Police officers will also be targeting other high-risk driver behaviour, including the Four Ds; drink, drug, dangerous and distracted driving.
