Multicultural fest lights up Byron, May 12

I don’t know why these kids are doing what they are doing in Alice Springs. What pissed me off was hearing the federal member Jacinta Price saying ‘send in the riot squad’. Yes, typical Liberal party reaction to this type of problem, or hers. What is the problem? Probably bored teens with no jobs and no prospects. I can only presume that’s the case?

Sending in the riot squad will only escalate the problems and politicians making stupid remarks like Price doesn’t help either. She doesn’t represent her community only the Liberal party, which is no representation at all.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

  1. Actually not the local member but in the senate. Analysis of who voted for her shows most votes came from Darwin area with little indigenous support. For someone who complains about elites she comes from a family of politicians.

      • As a CPEng., I was the Acting Dir. Tech. Services at A.S.T.C. for a while in 2016/17 while they looked for a permanent D.T.S.. She wasn’t dangerous then – just apparently a ‘waste-of space’. This was a pity as I would have liked to help the local indigenous community but the culture in the council did not assist. Now, as has been said: she is not representing the A.S. mob.

  2. Educational programs for indigenous children in the Northern Territory over the last four decades has been appalling. The Federal and Northern Territory Education Departments should be held accountable for incompetence, negligence and harm to individuals, families and communities.
