The Byron Shire Council says utilities staff are working to repair a leak in the water reservoir at Byron Bay’s Paterson St.
Workers reportedly found the leak in the base of the reservoir last Tuesday morning.
Attempts to repair the leak from the outside with a specialised cement compound failed.
Byron Shire Council Utilities Manager Cameron Clark says the reservoir must be drained to allow for internal repair work.
Properties usually supplied from the reservoir are to be supplied from the Coopers Shoot reservoirs in the interim.
People on properties at higher elevations are advised they may notice lower water pressure.
The council says staff are working urgently to reduce the impact of the leak and say they are aware it has affected a property near the reservoir.
