Work on a new roundabout at the intersection of Byron Bay Road and Byron Street at Lennox Head has finished.
This $1.53 million project included a shared path connection, pedestrian refuges, improved street lighting, new kerbs, line marking, and signage.
The Ballina Shire Council’s announcement this week said the new section of shared path would ultimately connect to a future Lennox Head Shared Path to be built between Park Lane and Coopers Close.

Ballina Shire Council Engineering Works Manager Paul Crozier said construction crews worked efficiently to complete the project on time and to a high standard ‘despite a particularly wet autumn’.
The council had delivered ‘several major roundabouts’ over the past five years, Mr Crozier said.
‘We’ve designed for durability,’ he said.
‘By taking a sustainable approach and investing a little extra time and resources upfront, we’re reducing the need for ongoing maintenance and future upgrades.’
Ballina Shire Mayor Sharon Cadwallader said the roundabout was a vital upgrade for one of the shire’s key arterial routes.
Funding for the project came through the federal government’s Black Spots Program, the council said.
