A man has been charged over an alleged assault in Byron Bay last month, say Police.
A statement reads, ‘On Thursday September 4, officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District commenced an investigation following reports an 18-year-old man was allegedly assaulted on Johnson Street, Byron Bay, about 3.30am on Saturday August 23’.
‘Police were told the 18-year-old man was approached by another man before he was allegedly assaulted.
‘The second man then left the area.
‘Following extensive inquiries, about 9am Thursday September 25, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Opaki Place, Wollongbar, where a 24-year-old man was arrested.
‘He was taken to Lismore Police Station where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
‘He was granted conditional bail to appear before Byron Bay Local Court on Monday (13 October 2025).
