NSW Reconstruction Authority (RA) say another ten buyback homes will be auctioned in Lismore.
In a media release, they say, ‘One of Australia’s most unique housing initiatives is returning this autumn, offering ten more Northern Rivers homes a second life and chance to leave the floodplain for safer ground’.
‘In a move that combines heritage preservation with climate resilience, the “with no reserve” price bidding on these iconic timber structures can start at just $1, making it one of the most accessible pathways to home ownership in the country.
‘To date, the Resilient Homes Program has offered 160 properties for relocation with one property selling for $1 and the highest at $200,000.
‘PRD Northern Rivers Real Estate will manage the auction, which targets locals and renovators ready to relocate these classic dwellings to flood-free land. The auction will be held at the Lismore Workers Sports Club in Goonellabah from 5.30pm on Wednesday, 22 April 2026.
‘To make the transition easier, the NSW Reconstruction Authority has established a Relocation Concierge service to support buyers through the house relocation process. Houses bought in this auction will need to be relocated within 11 months to meet program requirements.
‘The Resilient Homes Program is Australia’s largest climate adaptation initiative jointly funded by the Australian and NSW governments’.
