Generally, I am interested in much of David Heilpern’s views but I do feel he has diminished himself by resorting to mockery in his latest effort.
Bullying can be verbal and when commentators reduce themselves to vitriol/mockery in order to win or be persuasive in an argument, the argument itself is lost.
A more nuanced view would have adopted an analysis that the success of Pauline Hanson’s One Nation (PHON) in the polls is a national reaction to grave disappointment with our current leaders.
Increasingly, a substantial number of Australians want leaders that have had a real job, make decisions that don’t require a poll first to see if it is going to cost votes and exhibit evidence of a backbone.
While PHON has issued some very polarising/troubling opinions over the years, at least it does meet the criteria above.
Australians want authentic leadership which produces policy that reflects the will of the mob not cowardice and indecision.
I am not sure that PHON is the answer but at least they can read the room.
