Council says potholes on Wilsons Creek Rd will be fixed

Frustration has been expressed by locals at the potholes already appearing in the recent $10.7 million upgrade to Wilsons Creek Road.
Local police say over the past week (5–12 May), 66 people were charged with a total of 97 criminal offences as follows:
• Domestic Violence: 5 males and 3 females were charged with 14 domestic violence related offences, a significant reduction over the previous week.
• Traffic: 35 charges for traffic related offences, including driving whilst disqualified (All 4 were repeat offenders) or suspended (6), driving under the influence of drugs (13) or with a prescribed concentration of alcohol (7).
• Property: 14 charges for property offences, breaking, entering, and stealing (1), stealing a motor vehicle (1), destroying property (3), shoplifting (4), larceny (2), and possessing goods suspected of being stolen (3).
• Drugs: 11 people charged for drug offences.
• Weapons: 1 person was charged with a weapons offence.
Significant Arrests:
• A 62-year-old woman was arrested and charged with assaulting Ambulance workers and Police following a concern for welfare call to an address. She is due to appear at Murwillumbah Local Court on 17 June 2026.
• A 32-year-old male was arrested and charged with multiple offences including being carried in a conveyance taken without the consent of the owner, having custody of a knife in public place, driving a motor vehicle during disqualification period (repeat offence), having goods in his custody suspected of being stolen, possessing prohibited drugs, and receiving property stolen outside NSW. He was allegedly observed in the early hours of the morning in Mullumbimby driving a motor vehicle stolen from QLD which was displaying false plates. The vehicle had been hot-wired and contained numerous identification cards in other persons names. The male stated he had legitimately purchased the male from another person known to Police, however that person had died prior to the vehicle having been stolen. The male remains bail refused to next appear before the Tweed Heads Local Court on 22 June 2026.
• A 61-year-old male from Brisbane QLD was arrested and charged with two offences relating to illicit tobacco, after his vehicle was stopped in Chinderah. He was given conditional Police bail to next appear at the Tweed Heads Local Court on 1 June 2026.
• A 42-year-old woman was charged with two offences relating to an altered prescription provided by her treating doctor and using it to obtain additional drugs not prescribed from a pharmacist. She is due to appear at the Tweed Heads Local Court on 22 June 2026.
• A 31-year-old male was arrested and charged with seven offences relating to damaging multiple vehicles and assaulting members of the public near the Tweed City Shopping Centre on 9 May 2026. He was located by Police and handcuffed with drugs being located on his person. The male remains bail refused to next appear at Tweed Heads Local Court on 18 May 2026.
• A 59-year-old transient male was arrested and charged with breaking, entering, and stealing from a church in Murwillumbah at the end of January 2026. He initially denied the offence but admitted wrongdoing once informed of the presence of CCTV footage. He is due to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court on 29 June 2026
