A man has died after a single-vehicle crash in Tweed Heads West, say police.
They say, ‘About 2.25am today (Friday 29 May), emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway, Tweed Heads West, following reports of a truck crash’.
‘Officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District attended and found a truck had crashed into a barrier, trapping the male driver.
‘He was freed by Fire and Rescue NSW crews before being treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for serious injuries and was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
‘The passenger – a man – died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.
‘A crime scene was established, and the Crash Investigation Unit have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
‘A report will be prepared for the coroner.
‘A section of the Pacific Highway is currently closed in both directions and diversions are in place. For the latest traffic updates, go to livetraffic.com’, police added
