Hi beautiful community, I am concerned for the whole Shire.
Our stormwater and sewage systems have been affected by the huge lack of maintenance and upgrades.
Bayside Brunswick is just one smaller part of our community but the four plus decades of necessary maintenance have gone unattended.
This is not an isolated incident, but rather just one subdivision of many throughout the whole Shire. I believe that the accumulation of infrastructure neglect has resulted in significant impacts for us all.
I feel sickened by this situation. It has become so clear that the state government should have been involved and that the state certainly needs to listen and understand exactly how urgent our situation has become. Our representatives should not ignore this matter.
I believe that multiple millions are required to fund this issue. The need to call for a moratorium is urgent. The passing of metres of landfill to bring new construction above ground level would have negative consequences for existing buildings but this has been done already and has been implemented by local governments.
I have spoken with community members who are concerned about this issue happening on neighbouring properties. It’s become an unacceptable issue for all of us as more and more residents are being affected. It’s time community to say something about this issue. If you are at risk of being impacted by the current state of affairs and you feel that our communities need to address the infrastructure failures then please bring your placard to the next Council meeting 8.30am, 18 June. No placards are allowed inside.
The community members from north to south of the shire have had enough of this precarious situation for very good reasons. I have witnessed and spoken to many. Unacceptable situation and something has to be done about it. We can’t afford to lose our homes and businesses to this level of ignorance. There is no way our leaders saying that they just don’t have enough money to finance this crisis. The need for the moratorium is urgent. Please, please community, if you can we need to come together.
