Are people aware that NSW is the only state to tax farmers for Local Land Services? Other states must supply these services from other resources. In NSW, only landholdings over 10ha are taxed, unless one is a cane farmer because they are exempt (an exemption that dates back to Country Party days!).
I have lived on my small holding for 20+ years, and have never been offered a service! Why are we paying this tax?
I feel it is time to make this an election issue for the next state election. My feeling is that the majority of the tax collected goes in inefficient paperwork costs actually collecting this tax! Time for it to go, particularly as we are heading towards another El Nino event and monies will be tight for farmers.
