Apologies, a correction to my article last week. In a fuzzy head cold state I wrongly referred to Great Koala National Park and Great Southern Forest NP as ‘Greater’. I was focused on the greater good but there’s potential confusion with other options.
The vote on the Improved Native Forest Method (INFM) disallowance is the 15 September and it deeply concerns me that we could lose the opportunity on offer to preserve forests by a Greens vote, supporting the Coalition and One Nation, to reject the INFM. The world is burning, flooding, and species extinction is accelerating, it’s time to act.
Also, I didn’t list all the organisations supporting the INFM, including National Parks Association of NSW, Nature Conservation Council of NSW, North Coast Environmental Council, WWF Australia and South East Forest Rescue as well as numerous Aboriginal groups across the state and our local groups, North East Forest Alliance and the local Conservation Ecologists Association.
We must avoid more forests being destroyed and the INFM is the best option on offer to end native forest logging and preserve biodiversity, water, and First Nations culture. Not perfect but a greater good outcome and that’s why I’m speaking out. Please make urgent contact with Green federal representatives or you may regret it.
