1. Art in the Heart of Mullumbimby: Exhibition 12
Mullumbimby Comprehensive Health Centre is once again transformed into a gallery as the H’Art Gallery unveils its 12th exhibition. With ten artists and more than 30 works across painting, printmaking, and mixed media, this show celebrates both the reach and intimacy of local creativity.
Bessminda Groves brings muscular emotional weight to oil on canvas – her works Hope is a Thing with Claws and Happenstance bristle with tension and surrender. Bill Veale’s sweeping coastal acrylics trace the Broken Head headlands with quiet awe. Blair Ferguson offers tender, small-scale studies of local rivers and beaches in ink and oil. Brendan Kelly returns with bold, conceptually-charged work, including the striking Corellas. Edward Sach contributes a deeply personal piece navigating cancer survival with colour and grace.
Karena Wynn-Moylan’s luminous oils move from coastal light to fallen birds, always with reverence. Marika Bryant fills the room with lyrical mixed media that blur landscape and lived experience. Sally Green brings richly textured abstracts drawing on outback pigments and arctic cool alike. Spero Jones delivers visceral, polymer-varnished works pulsing with elemental force. And curator Solveig anchors the exhibition with signature graphic impressions – from moonlit botanicals to deep neural explorations.
Together they remind us that art doesn’t just decorate a health centre – it heals it.

2. The Lismore Ceramics Market is coming!
Clay Northern Rivers is heading to Lismore on Saturday, 10 October, bringing the Lismore Ceramics Market to Elevator ARI, Lismore’s own artist-run initiative.
Discover 22 stalls of unique, locally made ceramics, lovingly created by ceramic artists from across the Northern Rivers.
From functional wares to one-of-a-kind pieces, there’ll be something for every ceramics lover — and plenty of reasons to shop local.

3. Mick Fanning in Lennox Head for Writers Festival event
Byron Writers Festival is thrilled to present three-time surfing World Champion Mick Fanning in conversation about his highly anticipated new memoir All Heart.
In All Heart, Mick opens up about the moments that shaped him – the wins, the waves, the parties, the people he lost, the mates who never left, and the family that helped him on his journey.
Mick will be joined by bestselling author and athlete Turia Pitt, and books will be available for purchase and signing by the author from The Book Room.

4. Spring Fever at the Coorabell Hall
Featuring the launch of the BUBI collection by Michele Telfer, the Spring Fever funky fashion parade will be staged at Coorabell Hall from 7pm on Friday, 16 October – a vibrant celebration of clothing creativity mixing mens, ladies and kids pre-loved, upcycled, vintage, and new styles showcased on the runway.
Enjoy great music, open bar and curry specials from 5pm to 7pm.

5. Newrybar Art Collective
The Newrybar Art Collective bridges the gap between avid collectors and affordable, original fine arts. Housed in a welcoming residential setting in Newrybar Village, the gallery curates a diverse multi-medium landscape that includes striking freestanding sculptures, fine art paintings, intricate wall hangings, ceramic works and mixed-media assemblages. By maintaining a focus on regional talent, the collective offers distinct contemporary pieces in rotating exhibits where you can engage directly with the artists at work.

6. Exciting Changes in 2026 for the Border Clay Trail
The sixth annual Border Clay Trail encourages art-lovers, ceramics enthusiasts and collectors, to have a behind-the-scenes look into ceramic studios, participate in workshops and visit group exhibitions across the scenic Tweed Valley and Tweed Coast.
The Open Studios Week running from Saturday, 31 October to Friday, 6 November, focuses on open studios, workshops and demonstrations.
The Border Clay Trail Exhibition Weekend runs on Saturday, 7 and Sunday, 8 November, from 9am to 3pm to allow visitors to take their time and engage with the makers, participate in workshops and demonstrations, visit open studios and discover new parts of the Tweed.
Functional tableware and homewares, contemporary structural forms, whimsical sculptures and distinctive jewelry, using a range of clay working processes, decorative techniques and firing are available for purchase.

7. Bellingen Shire Arts Trail Weekend Returns for a Fourth Year of Creativity and Connection
Artists across the Bellingen Shire will again open their studios, galleries and creative spaces as the Bellingen Shire Arts Trail Weekend returns on 7 and 8 November 2026.
Spanning the hinterland and coast, the Arts Trail connects visitors with artists and craftspeople from Bostobrick and Dorrigo through to Bellingen, Raleigh and Urunga showcasing a diverse range of artistic disciplines, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, jewellery, photography, printmaking and contemporary craft.
Selected venues will host live music, dance performances and artist talks,highlighting the creative energy and diversity of the region.
‘The weekend provides a rare opportunity to step behind the scenes and experience the creative process first-hand, hear the stories behind the work and celebrate the incredible talent that exists throughout the Bellingen Shire.’, organisers said.
