The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter winched two teenage boys from a tree in the middle of the swollen Richmond River at Casino yesterday.
The teenagers got into trouble yesterday afternoon while ‘surfing’ the flooded river on rubber tyre tubes.
Fortunately they were spotted and the helicopter was summoned to the scene at about 3pm.
Locals assisted the crew in locating the boys, who were winched safely into the helicopter.
They were flown to the Casino rugby field where they were assessed by paramedics and found to be unhurt.
