The NovaSkill 2013 Northern Rivers Rugby League competition got underway with the first round being played up and down the north coast over the weekend.

With almost a full complement of teams for the season, it looks like there will be some heavyweight league action over the coming months.

The Marists, Lower Clarence and the Grafton Ghosts all fielded teams who were able to keep the opposition scoreless and with high scoring games.

Next weekend’s match ups make for interesting times with Evans meeting the Ghosts, the Grafton Rebels playing northern neighbour Lower Clarence, Byron hosting their closest southern neighbour Ballina, Casino making the trip to Kyogle, Murwillumbah welcoming the Marists and Northern United taking on Mullum.

I’d encourage anyone who loves league to get out on the weekend and watch some good local sport.

Each week we will publish the team lists and results in Echonetdaily.
