Mandy Nolan’s Soapbox: Couching an Opinion

The Bruce Lehrmann and Brittany Higgins case was never about establishing whether or not Lehrmann raped Higgins. It was about Brittany. She was established as not ‘the perfect victim’ so we overlooked the blazingly obvious fact that Bruce Lehrmann was ‘the perfect perpetrator’. An entitled, compulsive wrecking ball of cocaine, $400 steaks, free rent and very very expensive massages.

Vince Kean, Murwillumbah

Please allow me space to express my absolute outrage at the serial child abusers of Lismore City Council.

As a teacher of 30 years’ experience in the Tweed Valley, I have seen with my own eyes the steady elimination of blackened teeth and embarrassed smiles as fluoride in the water has helped reduce/eliminate tooth decay among the most at-risk members of our supposedly advanced society.

That Lismore Council should pay attention to this idiot fringe group and continue to expose children to the scourge of dental disease is beyond belief.

If the idiot fringe desires to expose their own children to dental disease they should buy a tank.

That they should seek to expose financially or parentally disadvantaged children to dental disease to satisfy some personal inability to understand/accept science disgusts me.

What next? Shall we take out chlorination and filtration? The same crazy arguments apply to these and all other sensible precautions we take to avoid mass threats to our health and wellbeing.

Don’t be mistaken – fluoride is only the first step. The idiot fringe will relentlessly move on to more and more antisocial campaigns.

The anti-fluoride mob were exposed and discredited as knaves and fools years ago. Must we forever fight the battles fairly won yesterday?

The idiot fringe will always be there and will always bleat their inconsequential objections and spread their quasi-intellectual smokescreens.

Surely as an intelligent society we can put these vexatious fools behind us?

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
