A woman was injured in an attempted bag snatch at South Lismore yesterday afternoon.About 4pm, a 46-year-old woman drove to Union Street where she parked to go to the shops.
As she was getting out of her car she was approached by a man who grabbed at her purse. The pair became involved in a struggle when the woman fell back and hit her head on the door frame of the car.
The man then punched her in the face before running off empty-handed.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene and the woman was taken to Lismore Base Hospital for treatment of a cut above her eye and soreness to the back of her head.
Detectives from Richmond Local Area Command are investigating the matter and are looking for a man described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged in his early 20s, 165cm tall with a thin build and dark curly hair.
He was wearing a black paint-stained shirt, dirty blue jeans and was barefoot.
