Stephanie Deane, Tweed Heads
Once again on Monday night the three politically aligned councillors, Polglase, Byrne and Youngblutt voted to approve a letter of support to allow Aquasplash to proceed with their application to install an inflatable fun park in the JEBH.
At present we have Councillors who are taking advantage of our Mayors absence due to illness to drive their own agendas. Aquasplash is a pet project of Councillor Warren Polglase and we now have the power of three making decisions for the whole Tweed Shire. It’s undemocratic and the Administrators should be brought back in to run this dysfunctional Council till the elections in September.
There have been claims made that Aquaspalsh will stop kids jumping off bridges. Do you really think the parents of the kids who are jumping off bridges for FREE will hand out $12 or $15 for a fifty minute session on a regular basis? I don’t think so!
Residents need to think carefully when they vote in September. Hopefully there will be some talented open minded people who will run for council. It’s time for the old brigade of Polglase and Byrne to go.
Thanks to the councillors who voted against this stupid proposal. Katie Milne would have knocked this idea on the head with a sledge hammer! This still has a long way to go and community groups will fight this at every stage.
