Mullum Scout Hall fire overnight

At 1.45am this morning the NSW Fire and Rescue Mullumbimby Station 388 Sans and Brunswick Station 240 were called to a fire at the Mullumbimby Scout Hall.

Sarah Buchanan, Brunswick Heads

Bob Brown in Murwillumbah the other night was brilliant, humble, funny and (as usual) spot on. He does not mince words and has great insight and a common sense delivery when talking of the embarrassments of former and current governments who kowtow to the mining companies, the corporations, the Chinese, the oil companies etc etc.

He talked about a bird that can only survive on Bruny Island via of a special tree and how they are now logging the beautiful forests on that once pristine island.

Important and necessary-to-life river systems being drained/polluted to grow cotton; rivers and creeks bubbling and poisoned from CSG fracking aquifers and using life-killing chemicals. Acres of useless and poisoned water stored using only builders plastic to stop it from killing the land and the critters needing water to drink. Acres of dried up land where every single tree has been felled therefore water can’t be drawn to the area in that magic way.

He spoke of the plan the govt has to allow BP to drill in pristine and important nurseries in the Great Australian Bight! He spoke of the tragedy of the Great Barrier Reef as we see it die on our watch!

We are life forms also! We need clean water, clean food, meaningful jobs, free education as an investment in Australia’s future.

We need clean air and renewable energy sources that don’t pollute the atmosphere that We breathe!

We need safe and secure jobs with liveable pay!

We need our aged people to have good care, respect and love in their last years as thanks for the life of mothering and fathering, the educating, nursing, doctoring, cooking, cleaning, labouring, teaching, protecting, singing, painting, dancing, loving etc, etc that they’ve practised their whole lives.

We need to inspire each other to be loving and respectful to others who choose to live their lives in their chosen way! There’s room for it all… a melting pot of inspiration and interesting practises, of ways to live in high regard for all including other species and their need for healthy environments.

The Greens aren’t crazy, they aren’t weird, they aren’t mad… They want a wholesome life for themselves their families, their fellow humans and all other life forms (except bindies) lived on a healthy, clean and productive planet. A planet spinning endlessly in its perfect and timeless manner. A planet that renews itself and provides for all without poisons, without bombs, without hate.

Our indigenous peoples worldwide adapted perfectly to their environments and enjoyed the bounty nature provided even in challenging environments such as inland Australia or Alaska.

They are the ones that survived without chemicals or machinery or greed.

Us white fellas can turn things around before the planet’s systems are destroyed forever. Along with using sustainable methods of survival and rejecting ‘death’ chemicals in and on our food and water; we can vote in the people who for so long have been waiting in the wings practised, degree-ed, smart and savvy; active, ready and hard-working; honest, able and focused on the only thing that, at this very tenuous point in Earth’s Lifespan, can save us, the planet and all our futures.

We are watching the first signs of a dying planet. It happens to be the planet that we and all our grandchildren and their grandchildren will be relying on to draw their next breath, to eat clean life-sustaining food, to drink pure water full of the minerals and components for healthy bodies and minds. To feel and fall into love and joy, to learn and discover the mysteries of life and birth and death; to create, paint, dance, write and sing! To birth children with confidence of their ability to have an ecstatic and adventurous life. To allow each other the discovery of our own sexuality, our own particular take on things, our own expression of joy in a world filled with loving, excited, adventurous and clever souls that practise respecting, helping and loving one another on a healthy and stunningly beautiful and magically diverse planet earth.

Is it possible? Who knows. Our environment is in a poor, neglected and poisoned state right now but with desire, effort, education and the will of us, the people, we may be able to turn things around and do things a little differently.

Let’s try, eh? Let’s give it a go!

If we decide not to and keep going on the greedy beat, bust and poison route, all will be lost and the tipping point will be reached where there is no fix, no turning back and really no hope for our planet (or us, by the way). Us and our precious families and friends, teachers and sustainers.

The Libs, the Labs, the Nats, the Rats, the Wimps, the Whiners and the Mining parties have had many a chance to show their bravery, nous, intelligence and most of all their egalitarianism… but, they haven’t!

It’s business as usual and very tedious and depressing to watch as our good ship is sinking into a porridge of lies, self interest, greed, ecocide, species extinction, drug dependence, chemical food production, medical murders, trickery, mockery, greed and corruption Are we not sick of it yet?

Have we had enough?

The Greens are ready to play an important part in turning back this ugly monster of self-interest and will work hard for that which sustains us physically and spiritually!

Make your vote count on Saturday July 2, 2016

Vote for the Greens. It is definitely the right timing… and really, we can’t afford not to!

We can’t afford not to fix this!

Lets start the job now.

If our government fails to act now, the unthinkable demise of all life forms on this planet will start to take place starting with the most vulnerable of our species and ending with us. This will happen sooner rather than later.

My fearless prediction is that the coalition will end up with between 76 to 78 seats in the House of Representatives, a thin but decisive majority. But this is not the way it was meant to be.

A hung parliament? It may be the best we can hope...

Nearly three years ago, on the eve of the last Federal election, this web site warned that a Tony Abbott-led Coalition government presented a grim outlook for clean energy and climate change, and we warned too that it could be even worse than most people feared.

Elliot, Hogan retain their north coast seats

Incumbent northern rivers MPs Kevin Hogan (Page, Nationals) and Justine Elliot (Richmond, Labor) have retained their seats after a knife-edge federal election result which could see a hung parliament.
