The EDO (formerly Environment Defenders Office) has been mounting legal arguments to protect precious places throughout the northern rivers for 10 years, despite defunding by both levels of government.

To celebrate this milestone, EDO NSW is holding a special screening of the powerful documentary film Sonic Sea, about the impact of industrial and military noise on whales and other marine life.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Sue Higginson, EDO NSW Chief Executive Officer, and EDO NSW clients who have been working to raise awareness of ocean noise pollution here and overseas.

On the night, guests will also take trip down memory lane with EDO NSW staff and friends.

Ms Higginson, said that over the last ten years, the office had ‘gone on an incredible journey with the northern rivers community.’

‘This is such a special, vibrant region, where people are passionate about protecting our environment,’ she said.

‘The northern rivers community has been at the forefront of public interest environmental law for many years and it has been a privilege to serve the community more closely through a dedicated office over the past decade.

‘We’re looking forward to celebrating our achievements working together for the benefit of this stunning region,’ Ms Higginson said.
