Mandy Nolan’s Soapbox: Coming out of the Cave

It was 2018, and in this crisis we witnessed the best that the world can be. We all watched in nervous anticipation as cave diving hobbyists from around the world became experts in a rescue never before attempted. It showed the power of collaboration for a higher purpose. It showed true courage; of the men who risked their lives in the complex underground maze of caves, of the boys who maintained the most incredible calm, and of the parents who never gave up hope.

Victoria de la Fuente, you admit to attending five doofs, two of which were organised by Spanish people (your words not mine).

So you should not be aggrieved by the comments of Dailan Pugh and the Echo as you and all of the other like minded people regardless of where their from who attend these doofs have no respect for the local environment or the local people, you are part of the problem.

To all of the visitors to this country and area who do the right thing welcome have a great time. To all of the ignorant, disrespectful visitors we don’t want or need you here in this beautiful part of the world so either change your attitudes or go home.

Gary Walsh, Brunswick Heads

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
